The hostel was clean with a comfortable bed. Breakfast offered a variety of bread and jams. The kitchen was modern and well-maintained. Staff allowed early check-in and late check-out. Convenient location near public transportation.

We had a great experience at the hostel. the breakfast was amazing, with delicious bread and a fantastic kitchen that had everything we needed. the location was convenient, just a 20-minute walk from the station and close to many tourist attractions. the bed was comfortable and the private bathroom was nice. the staff were super amazing, with a rating of 10 for their kindness and helpfulness. We would highly recommend staying here. Cons: Nothing, everything was great! 👍.

I had a fantastic stay at R Star Hostel in Kyoto. The hostel is beautifully maintained and you can't even tell it's been open for 5 years. The staff were friendly and spoke excellent English. The location is ideal, just one stop from Kyoto Station and close to many attractions. The kitchen is well-equipped and the breakfast, although basic, was sufficient. The hostel is also very clean and the rooms are comfortable with daily cleaning. I felt safe with the locks on the doors and the key access at night. I highly recommend this hostel for a great stay in Kyoto.

The lack of storage space in the rooms. There were no shelves or drawers, which made it difficult to keep personal belongings organized.

We got great value for our money with a huge, clean, and functional suite that comfortably accommodated our family. The location was convenient, close to the Gion district and subway stations. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the shared living room/kitchen was a nice bonus.

The suite at R Star Hostel was incredibly spacious with a big dining area, seating area, and bedroom area. the private bathroom was huge, and we loved the high-tech toilet. the staff was friendly and helpful, and the property was spotless and well-maintained. the bunk bed was comfortable and extra large, perfect for taller travelers. the shared area and kitchen were fully equipped and there was always ice water, tea, and coffee available. the breakfast provided a variety of delicious breads. we had a fantastic stay at this hostel.

The room was clean and comfortable, with six double deck beds that provided privacy with individual wall lamps and Japanese-style sockets. the separate lighting for the locker zone and bedroom zone was a thoughtful touch, and the special flashlight ensured we didn't disturb others who were already in bed. the location was great, only a 15-20 minute walk to the station with plenty of convenience stores nearby. the photos on the website were accurate, showing that despite being 5 years old, the hostel has been beautifully maintained and refreshed. The staff were friendly, spoke excellent English, and provided helpful information about New Year events in Kyoto. Cons: There was nothing we didn't like. 😊.

We were really surprised by the spacious and clean rooms at R Star Hostel. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were well-maintained. Despite a small hiccup with the breakfast options, the overall stay was enjoyable. The staff were friendly and accommodating, we could store our luggage after check-out. The location was also convenient, within walking distance to the main city streets of Kyoto.

The location of this hostel was great, with plenty of restaurants and a convenience store nearby. It was also only a short distance from the main train station, which made getting around the city very easy. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially when I needed assistance with retrieving a lost item from another hotel. The cleanliness of both the rooms and the common areas was also impressive.

There were a few issues that detracted from my overall experience. the room size was quite small, which I understand is common for hostels in this area.
